General:
-
Zed’s Beginner Guides to Zed’s Beginner Guides: A great resource for using several of these applications that require scripting; includes links to Zed’s guides on GFPGAN, CodeFormer, Real-ESRGAN, Cupscale and more.
Fixing faces:
-
GFPGAN: An online tool to fix faces; you should have some familiarity with running scripts to use it. Check out Beginner’s Guide to GFPGAN if you need some guidance.
-
-
Not sure how to run scripts? You can also upload your photo and download a corrected version at Replicate.com instead.
-
You can also use BaseTen.co, but they appear to be using an older, less powerful version from my testing.
-
-
-
CodeFormer: A very powerful facial restoration tool, but you should be familiar with running scripts to use it. Zed to the rescue again with a Beginner’s Guide to CodeFormer.
-
Photoshop neural filter: If you have the latest beta version of Photoshop, you can use the “photo restoration” neural filter to fix faces in your photos.
Upscaling:
-
Real-ESRGAN: Lets you upscale your images, with optional face fixing. This is an online version at Replicate; you can also use find it at Github.
-
Gigapixel: Paid software that lets you upscale photos and improve image quality; I’ve had great luck with that with low-res photos in my genealogy work. (It offers a free trial.) There is an optional facial enhancement feature, but I don’t find it works that well on MJ images with a lot of asymmetry.
Random idea generators
Midjourney-specific:
-
Bob#1236’s Dynamic Prompt Generator: Choose a subject (object, person, animal, etc.), the other types of prompts you want to include, and get random prompt ideas.
-
Sadpress’ Image Prompt Generator: Get half a dozen random prompts each time you refresh, varying in complexity.
